Our Guarantees

The 10-Year Workmanship Guarantee

Our core guarantee covers every job we carry out — from a single replaced tile to a complete commercial re-roof. In plain English: if any part of the work we did fails within ten years due to defects in our workmanship, we come back and put it right at no cost to you.

The guarantee is transferable. If you sell your property within the 10-year period, the new owner inherits the same guarantee on the same terms. We just need the sale details to update our records.

What the Workmanship Guarantee Covers

• Incorrect fixing of tiles, slates, ridges or hips
• Failed mortar bedding or pointing
• Poorly-detailed lead flashings and valleys
• Defective membrane or underlay laps
• Flat roof seam failures caused by workmanship
• Any other aspect of the physical installation carried out by our roofers

What It Doesn't Cover

To keep things straight, our guarantee does not cover:

• Damage caused by events outside our control — falling trees, accidents, deliberate damage
• Materials that fail due to manufacturing defects (these are covered separately by the material manufacturer's warranty)
• Work carried out by other contractors after us that affects our work
• Issues caused by a lack of reasonable maintenance — uncleared gutters, unchecked moss growth, and the like

Manufacturer Material Warranties

On top of our workmanship guarantee, the materials we install carry their own manufacturer warranties. Typical periods:

• Welsh and Spanish natural slate: 75-100 years (material defect)
• Concrete interlocking tiles (Marley, Redland, Russell): 30 years
• Clay plain tiles (Sandtoft, Marley Eternit): 50+ years
• EPDM rubber flat roofs (Firestone RubberGard): 20 years
• GRP fibreglass flat roofs: 20-25 years
• Three-layer torch-on felt: 15-20 years
• Lead (Code 4-8 milled lead): 60+ years
• Velux and Fakro roof windows: 10 years
• Firestone, IKO, ClassicBond membrane warranties: up to 25 years where applicable

How to Make a Claim

If you think you have a workmanship issue in the guarantee period:

1. Ring us on 0330 223 7665 or email info@sheffieldroofers.co.uk.
2. Have your original quote number or job date handy — this speeds things up.
3. Describe what's happening. We'll usually send someone to inspect within a week.
4. If the inspection confirms a workmanship issue, we'll schedule the remedial work at the earliest practical date and carry it out at no charge.

Insurance-Backed

Our workmanship guarantee is backed by our business insurance. In the unlikely event that the company ceases trading, the insurance continues to cover guarantee claims for their remaining period. Very few local roofers can match this — many "10-year guarantees" from one-van outfits are worth the paper they're printed on and no more. We're different, because we've invested in being different.
