Local Roofing Knowledge — Doncaster
Doncaster's housing is generally lower-density than Sheffield — more interwar and post-war semis and detached, fewer of the tight Victorian terraces. That means more roofs with concrete tile or plain tile coverings, more hipped roofs, more conservatories and extensions with their own flat roof elements. We do a lot of fascia, soffit and guttering work in Bessacarr and Cantley, and a lot of flat roof replacements (EPDM and GRP) on rear extensions across the whole DN postcode area. The former mining villages out towards Armthorpe and Rossington have rows of Coal Board-built semis with aluminium windows and original concrete tiles that are now reaching end of life — we're regularly doing full re-roofs there, usually under 12-15 thousand for a standard three-bed.
Weather & Wind Exposure
Doncaster is lower-lying and less exposed than the areas further west, but it gets its share of flooding and the related gutter and downpipe problems. After the 2019 floods we did an enormous amount of rainwater goods work across Fishlake and Bentley, and we still find houses there that were patched up in the emergency period and never properly sorted.
