Local Roofing Knowledge — Worksop
Worksop has a mix of older red-brick terraces in the town centre and large tracts of post-war estate housing in areas like Kilton, Gateford and Manton. The town centre terraces often still have their original slate — commonly Welsh, occasionally the Elterwater green slates that appear here and there across the east Midlands. Estate housing tends to be concrete tile, and we're now regularly re-roofing properties there that were built in the 1960s-70s and have never been re-covered. Flat roof extensions on semis are common, and EPDM replacement is a big part of our Worksop workload.
Weather & Wind Exposure
Worksop is lower-lying and less wind-exposed than the Sheffield hills, but it's colder in winter — continental-edge weather patterns can bring long periods of hard frost and the occasional serious snowfall, both of which play havoc with old mortar bedding on ridges and verges.
