Mansfield is ex-mining country and the housing reflects it — extensive estates of inter-war and post-war semis, plenty of Coal Board-built terraces, and a scattering of 1990s-2000s private estate developments on the outskirts. The older mining-era housing was almost all built with concrete tile roofs and they're now reaching end of life in job lots. Similar to Worksop — low-lying, more frost-prone than wind-battered. The key weather issue in Mansfield is the occasional heavy snow load. In 2010 and 2018 we had multiple callouts across the NG18/NG19 area for collapsed flat-roof extensions and sagging felt roofs. If your flat roof has been on for more than 15-20 years, it's worth checking it before winter.
